Grand Junction, Fruita, Clifton, and Palisade make up the Grand Valley located in Mesa County in Colorado. The Valley is located right off of Interstate 70 about 30 miles from the Utah border. This puts the valley in the western slope foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

For skiers, Powderhorn and Sunlight, two great ski resorts are easily accessible, each under two hours drive from Grand Junction. There are also great cross country ski locations as well as snowmobiling available.

Golfing includes Redlands Mesa awarded # 1 Best New Public Affordable Golf Course for 2001 and Top 25 of All Public Golf Courses for 2003 by Golf Digest. Chepita is a nice 18 hole executive course. The city runs 2 great public courses as well. Lincoln Park Golf club is a 9 hole course situated downtown, while Tiara Rado is a scenic 18 hole course situated right up against the Colorado Monument.

The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with the Colorado National Monument , the Bookcliffs, and the Grand Mesa all surrounding the valley. A variety of wildlife abounds in the surrounding area. Mountain biking, four wheeling, and horseback riding trails are everywhere in the area. Moab Utah, just a couple hours away, has some of the best mountain biking and four wheeling in the world.

The valley has around 100,000 people in it; Grand Junction itself has close to 45,000. In addition to a good local public school system, there are also several good local private schools some run by local churches. Mesa State College is an excellent college with a full curriculum including post graduate studies. There are two local hospitals St. Mary's and Community Hospital offering some of the best medical services in the country.
